THE EUROPEAN JOURNALISM NOW CONFERENCE IN PRAGUE LAID THE FOUNDATIONS FOR THE CREATION OF COMMON STANDARDS FOR JOURNALISM AND DISCUSSED THE WEAKNESSES OF THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION´S DRAFT OF REGULATION ON MEDIA FREEDOM.
THE PARTICIPANTS AGREED ON THE USEFULNESS OF COMMON STANDARDS AND THE EVALUATION OF MEDIA ACCORDING TO THEIR FULFILLMENT. THE FIRST HALF OF THE OPENING DAY BROUGHT TOGETHER ALL AVAILABLE EUROPEAN FUNCTIONAL PROJECTS THAT EVALUATE THE MEDIA IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER AS PART OF THEIR RESEARCH OR ACTIVITIES.
THE KEYNOTE SPEAKER FOR THE EUROPEAN MEDIA FREEDOM ACT PART WAS THE CZECH COMMISSIONER AND VICE PRESIDENT OF THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION VERA JOUROVA. MOST PARTICIPANTS GENERALLY SUPPORTED THE INTENTIONS OF EMFA, BUT EXPRESSED SKEPTICISM ABOUT ITS IMPACT AND EFFECTIVE IMPLEMENTATION. BLIZKSOBE FOUNDATION WAS A KEY PARTNER FOR THE EVENT.
